About the job

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mid-Level Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone who has a breadth of knowledge in data science and would enjoy being the primary subject matter expert in that space. Your skills would be applied towards a wide variety of problems and you would be responsible for developing innovative solutions. Some examples include image classification or prediction models to increase efficiency of participant recruitment. We’re looking for someone with enough exposure and experience in developing various ML models to comfortably develop these solutions with relatively tight timelines. In addition to data science work, you would work with the rest of the data team in managing projects within existing pipelines, primarily using Google Sheets, AWS, and Python. You may be asked to assist with light project management, such as communicating with clients and partners and ensuring projects are running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning models to solve real-world business problems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Present findings and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Work with the data team to maintain and improve existing data pipelines and workflows.

Core Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in data science roles.
  • Advanced proficiency in using Python for machine learning
  • Proven track record of applying a variety of machine learning models in production environments.
  • Expertise in Excel and Google Sheets, including advanced data transformation techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud data platforms, particularly the AWS ecosystem
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a solution- and service-oriented mindset
  • Detail-orientated, curious, and self-motivated with a passion for continuous improvement and learning
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and respectful approach
  • Desire and ability to effectively lead a small team of collaborators

Technical Skills:

  • Data Cleaning: Expertise in cleaning and preprocessing large, complex datasets.
  • Data Wrangling: Advanced skills in data transformation, and integration from diverse sources.
  • Machine Learning: Proficiency in developing, tuning, and deploying various machine learning algorithms.
  • Statistical Analysis: Deep understanding of statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
